A delicious and juicy burger in the wild – irresistible!

Published: 25.10.18

A delicious hamburger with avocado, melted cheese and aioli tastes extra good in the wild! It also helps you feel saturated over a long period of time as it gives you the important energy sources such as fat, carbohydrates and protein. Bonus nutrients can be added through your choice of vegetable toppings.

Time: 20 minutes. Do you want to join one of my trips, partake in a cooking class or get served a meal made for you in the Norwegian wilderness? Click here.

Ingredients for 2 people:

2 burger patties, 150g each

2 burger buns of your preference

1 avocado

Some pieces of lettuce

Cheddar cheese

1 container with aioli

2 tomatoes

Some butter for cooking depending on your choice of pan (non-stick or not).

Step-by-step instructions:

  • Put the pan over the fire or on your stove. Melt the butter unless you're using a non-stick pan. Put the burgers in (cook one at a time if you've got a smaller pan). Cook them at a relatively high temperature, approximately 2 minutes on each side. Then lower the heat and cook for an additional 2 minutes on each side. Put the cheese directly on the patty to let it melt. (The cooking time depends on the thickness of the meat as well as on your personal preferences. I personally opt for "well done" when I'm out in the wild.)
  • While cooking the burgers, prepare the following: slice the tomatoes and the avocado. Set the burgers aside and quickly sear each bun in the pan if you'd like to toast the buns.
  • Assemble your burger with aioli on the bottom half of the bun, then add the salad, tomatoes, burger patty, avocado and another layer of aioli on the top half of the bun.

Bon appetite!
